Hyderabad: Man held for bludgeoning wife’s friend

HYDERABAD: Chaitanyapuri Police have arrested a fruit vendor for bludgeoning his wife’s friend to death at their house in Kothapet recently.
The accused, U Ravi, is a fruit vendor from Balaji Nagar. The victim, Praneeth Reddy, was a farmer from Machnoor village in Sangareddy district.

At 11.30 am on Monday, Ravi returned home from work and found Praneeth Reddy in the house with his wife. In a fit of rage, Ravi attacked Praneeth Reddy on the head with his weighing stone that was half a kilo heavy, killing him on the spot. “Ravi suspected that his wife had an affair with Praneeth. He wrapped the weighing stone in a towel and attacked the 24-year-old. He also hit the victim with a plank,” Chaitanyapuri inspector R Saidulu said. Police said the victim and Ravi’s wife were from the same village and they were also classmates. After the murder, the accused assaulted his wife and fled from the house, the complaint lodged by the victim’s family said. A case has been registered under IPC Sections 302 and 324.
During investigation, police kept a watch on the movements of the accused by monitoring his phone call details. On Wednesday night, police arrested him at Malakpet metro station. He is now in judicial remand
