The name of Golconda Fort is derived from telugu words Golla Konda meaning Shepherds Hill, was built by Qutb Shahi Kings as seat of power of Bahmani Sultanate and Later Golconda Kingdom. Golconda Remained the seat of Power till 1590 when the foundations of Hyderabad was laid as the new capital.
