Telangana State Assembly

Telangana State Assembly building was originally the Hyderabad State Town hall which is housed in white domed buildings. Telangana State Assembly architecture is a synthesis of Rajasthani and Persian styles. This structure was originally built in 1913 with annexes added in recent years. The citizens of Hyderabad raised money to build it to mark the 40th birthday of Nizam Mahboob Ali Khan in 1905. Situated on the left of the road leading to Lakdi-Ka-Pul from the Public Garden, a massive statue of Mahatma Ghandhi in a sitting position greets visitors at the entrance. Now Telangana State Assembly houses the Telangana Legislative Asseembly. Located right next to the Assembly, this is one spot in the city that has almost everything needed to allure a kid. No wonder then that it is one of the most frequented spots for school picnics.

Telangana State Assembly houses two museums (the A P State Archaelogical Museum and the Health Museum), a park where kids can play, a mini school (Jawahar Bal Bhavan) for the children to learn fine arts and an auditorium (the Indira Gandhi Auditorium). The Jubilee Hall, the Lalitha Kala Thoranam (an open-air theatre that is a venue for many film festivals, fashion shows and beauty pageants), the building of the Department of Horticulture and a mosque are the other fascinating places in the premises.

The then Andhra Pradesh Legislature introduced year-round programme of school and college visits, exclusively for educational institutions. Through these visits, students from various schools and colleges can gain an insight into how the State Legislature functions, and will add to their understanding of Government and Politics. The visit will include guided tour of the Legislative Council and the Legislative Assembly.
