HYDERABAD: Party president Asaduddin Owaisi said that the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) will not have any electoral pact with the Janata Dal (Secular) this time for the Karnataka assembly next year. The term of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly is to end on May 24, 2023. In the last assembly election, AIMIM campaigned for JD(S) after meeting JD(S) leader HD Kumaraswamy following a request from ally and Telangana CM KCR. But this time, the AIMIM is unlikely to forge an alliance with any mainstream party in the state. She wants to contest from districts with a large Muslim population. Congress and JD(S) have accused Owaisi of contesting the elections to cut vote bank. The Muslim population in Karnataka is around 80 lakhs.
