Now Kohe Moula Ali Dargah is offlimits for Non Devotees.

Kohe Moula Ali, will no longer be a picnic spot as the minorities welfare department on Tuesday issued a public notice prohibiting the use of the hillock as an adventure or a picnic spot.

In a notice, the department said that the hill top shrine that attracts not only lakhs of devottess has been found to have been used as place of adventure picnic and drinking purposes. In order to maintain the sactity of religious institution of the Shia Muslims, The minorities department stated that it is a religious institution adn any activities other than the religious riteds are prohibited at Kohe Moula Ali.

The Departmenr said that any person found to be induging in the any act of picn, drinking and non-religious activity, sports and adventure will be dealt with a criminal trespass and necessary action will be initiated against the concerned. There have been several incides in the past where people were found to be driking at the dargah. Infact, in the recent incident that occurred on sunday, few men were found with liquor bottles at the hill-top. Since its is a religious place, people have to maintain its sanctity. It is highly objectionable to drink and perform non-religious activities at a religious spot.” opined Altaf Hyder Rizvi, MLC and former Shia member of the Wakf Board.

The decision will have amajor impact on several hiking, biking and adventure sport events that are conducted by various city based clubs at the hillock.

It may be recalled that the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation had sanctioned Rs. Two Crore last to construct a road from the ground to the Kohe Moula Ali Dargah in two phases. This comes as a major relief for lakhs of pilgrims, especially the elderly ones visiting the shrine named after Hazrat Imam Ali, son-in-law of Prophet Mohammed (SAW).
